Follow these steps to complete a wireless setup which enables you to operate the PIXMA printer from a Windows computer.

Prepare the printer

Press and hold the Wi-Fi button (A) on the printer until the ON lamp (B) flashes.

Press the Color button (C), then the Wi-Fi button (A).

Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp (D) flashes quickly and the ON lamp is lit.

When the Wi-Fi lamp (D) flashes quickly, the printer is ready to receive information from the wireless network.

Set up the Computer

Follow these steps to set up the computer to communicate wirelessly with the printer.

Download the software for your PC here.

Open the file when the download has finished. If you are asked to provide permission to run the file, select Yes or the appropriate affirmative option.

Select Start Setup.

When this screen appears, select your place of residence, then select Next.

Read the License Agreement, then select Yes to proceed. If you select No, the installation will not proceed.

Read the information regarding the Extended Survey Program. Select Agree or Do not agree to proceed.

Select Next when prompted to allow all Install Wizard processes.

Select Wireless LAN Connection, then select Next.

Select Connect via wireless router (recommended), then select Next.

Select Next. The installer will search for network printers.

When the Printers on Network List screen appears, make sure that your printer is selected (shown by a check in the box on the left), then select Next.
Your computer will temporarily disconnect from your wireless network. It will then communicate directly with the printer, sending it the information it needs to connect to your wireless router.

If your printer is not detected, make sure that the computer has reconnected to the correct network. Also, you may need to temporarily disable any firewall software, or you may need to open blocked ports in the firewall. If your PC is connected to a VPN (Virtual Private Network), temporarily disconnect from the VPN and try the setup again. Also, if you are using a dual-band router, further troubleshooting information can be found here.
